Savannah’s culinary scene is emerging as one of the top in the nation, with Southern and coastal favorites offered in fresh and innovative ways.

Building on the foundation of historical institutes, modern restaurants serve a good time with delicious menu items. One way to sample the variety of flavors in Savannah is by taking a food tour.

Savannah Taste Experience offers four distinct tours, and private tours. Its Port City Food Tour on Wednesday through Sunday gives the opportunity to sample authentic Southern food prepared by some of the city’s most talented chefs. This off-the-beaten path tour includes a lot of walking, but that works up an appetite for the award-winning tastes.

Southern Fried Expectations is just what it sounds like. Sample Southern comfort food while learning about the region’s culinary history. Offered Monday through Friday, stops include Lady and Sons, Rise Biscuits, The Cotton Exchange and Savannah’s Candy Kitchen.

The First Squares Food Tour, perfect for first-time visitors to Savannah, is recommended for all ages. Tour the city’s historic squares while making flavorful food stops. This tour celebrates the founding of Savannah with craft beers, locally-made honey, coastal cuisine, Southern fare and British baked goods.

The Walktails & Bar Bites Happy Hour Tour (adults only) takes guests to four unique bars to enjoy three food tastings and four cocktail pairings. You will be surprised by the size of the cocktails (mocktails available for non-drinkers) and the portions of the bites.

All tours include a taste of history about the city’s architecture, famous natives, and legends. Tour prices start at $52.95 for Southern Fried Expectations and go up to $79.95 for Walktails & Bar Bites. Previous guests rave about the tours, calling them “well worth the hype.”
