Celebrate your mother this May 12 with a weekend trip to the spectacular city of Savannah. The picturesque city is a true gem that drips with Southern hospitality, beautiful green spaces, and vibrant shops and restaurants.

Book a stay in a charming carriage house or a larger cottage in the Historic District. Many cottages have been converted to Savannah vacation rentals and retrofitted with modern conveniences, including AC, upgraded kitchens, and contemporary bathrooms. But they maintain their historic design. Our rentals are steps away from the squares, shops, and restaurants that make the Historic District a wonderful destination.

A favorite activity is visiting historic homes, such as the Andrew Low House Museum. This stunning 1840-era house is less than a block from the Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist (also a great place to visit). The three-story home features a grand entrance with fluted columns and massive front double doors. It houses a wide range of late 18th and 19th-century porcelain, furniture, decorative arts, paintings, and silver. The Andrew Low House Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Enjoy coffee or tea at the Sentient Bean Coffee Shop and Cafe, 13 E. Park Ave., across from Forsyth Park. Choose from the daily selections of caffeinated and herbal Rishi tea, iced tea, chai, and more. The cafe also serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner with gluten-free and vegan options.

And because you’re right there at it, take a walk in Forsyth Park, one of the most well-known of Savannah’s green spaces. The 30-acre park in the heart of the Historic District includes the landmark Forsyth Fountain, a Fragrance Garden, and the 300-year-old Candler Oak tree.

Reserve a table at The Olde Pink House, a Savannah institution. The building is a historic Colonial mansion, renovated to provide an elegant atmosphere. Discover the best things about Savannah in one spot - the architecture, history, and cuisine. The restaurant presents the perfect spot for a Mother’s Day meal. Start your meal with a craft cocktail, like The Pink Lady, made with freshly squeezed lemonade and raspberry vodka. For appetizers, choose fried green tomatoes or blackened oysters on the half-shell. The pan-seared salmon and grilled pork tenderloin get rave reviews for entrees. But basically, you can’t go wrong with any menu choice.

Book your stay to make this Mother’s Day a special celebration in one of America’s most beautiful cities.
