March makes a magnificent month to visit Savannah, with gorgeous flowers blooming and lots of activities to keep you busy.

March 1: Join the March of Dimes Shamrock Run, including a 5K and Kid’s Run, which are fun for all ages. Costumes are encouraged, and four-legged friends are always welcome. Enjoy music and entertainment.

Savannah Blues Festival takes the stage on March 1 in the Johnny Mercer Theatre at the Savannah Civic Center. The event features Tucka, King George, Pokey Bear and other blues artists, making it an unforgettable experience for blues fans. 

March 2: The South Carolina Ballet’s Motown Ballet is a multi-media performance at the Savannah Civic Center. Inspired by the musical legends of the 60s and 70s, the mixed repertoire blends a variety of dance genres such as jazz, hip hop, modern, contemporary, and classical ballet.

March 8: The Greening of the Fountain at Forsyth Park kicks off the city’s St. Patrick’s Day events. Other St. Paddy's Day events include the Tybee Island St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which rolls from Memorial Park to Tybrisa Street at 3 p.m. on March 9. A St. Patrick’s Day Rugby Tournament is set March 9-10 at Daffin Park, and a Celtic Cross Ceremony on March at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. The highlight of the celebration is the St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 16 in downtown Savannah. 

March 23: Grab a habit and join the St. Vincent’s Nun Run 5K at 1401 E. Victory Drive near Historic Grayson Stadium. The event features hundreds of costumed nuns running the streets of Savannah to raise funds for St. Vincent’s Convent Historic Preservation. Wear black and white for a fun experience that supports a great cause. 

March 28-April 13: Close out March and go into April with the Savannah Music Festival, which takes place at various venues across Savannah’s Historic District. Performances include fiddlers and other folk musicians, world music, instrumentalists, jazz, Zydeco and every other genre of music, performed by some of the best musicians in the country, as well as international stand-outs. 

In addition to these events, the Forsyth Farmers Market takes place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Saturday of March in the southend of the park. Shop for local produce and pre-cooked foods that you can take back to your vacation property to enjoy.
